ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS

Brittany is an individual and couples therapist who offers individual and couples therapy sessions for adults (18+) who live in Baltimore, Virginia, and Florida struggling with and/or can relate to:

  • Affirming and Inclusive (Individuals and couples)

  • LGBTQIA+

  • Individuals, couples + polycules.

  • BDSM + kink (new to the scene and experienced practitioners)

  • Non-monogamy/polyamory

  • Sex Therapy (sexual functioning, desire discrepancy, improving sexual relations, etc.)

I am an eclectic sex therapist specializing in kink, LGBTQIA+ issues, couples therapy, and relationship counseling for non-monogamous groups, polycules, and individuals. I employ a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques throughout our journey, believing that therapy should not be taken as a one size fits all approach. My practice incorporates elements from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Systemic approaches, among others, to provide comprehensive mental health services.

I love board games, competing in pole dancing competitions, and snuggling with my cat. I also enjoy listening to mental health podcasts and ballroom dancing. As a bisexual, polyamorous, and kinky therapist, I am deeply committed to LGBTQIA+ education, advocating for polyamory acceptance, and destigmatization of BDSM. I cherish the strong connections with my diverse and extraordinary partners, which reflect my belief that meaningful interactions enrich our lives tremendously. These experiences underscore my dedication to creating a supportive and inclusive therapy environment for all.

I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and am currently pursuing a PhD in Sex Therapy at Widener University. My approach to therapy is eclectic, focusing on couples counseling and individual therapy, ensuring that every client feels heard and actively participates in shaping their therapeutic journey. Humor in therapy is a key element of my practice, facilitating a relaxed environment where clients can comfortably address the 'uncomfortable' topics such as sexual health, kink dynamics, racial identity, trauma recovery, and any other subjects you wish to explore.

Please reach out if you are seeking a therapist who champions sex-positive therapy, offers kink-affirming counseling, and provides a polyamory and non-monogamy friendly environment. I am committed to fostering a space where acceptance and personal growth are at the forefront, catering to diverse needs and experiences.

All relationships take work and care to maintain. Whether you are looking to ensure that your strong foundation stays that way, or you are navigating tough issues, support from a therapist can be invaluable. I love to help couples grow closer and find their joy in each other again. I am also unique in my ability to help those working through concerns specific to polyamory/non-monogamy. Please reach out with any questions, and let's work on getting your relationship ready to weather any storms life might throw your way.

TELL ME ABOUT FEES AND INSURANCE?

Brittany’s individual fee is $200 per 60-minute intake session and 45-minute follow-up session; $350 for a 2-hour couples intake session, $300 per 90-minute couples follow-up session.

SBCS is not paneled with any insurance plans but can offer you what's called "out-of-network benefits" (OONB). Not everyone has this as part of their benefits package, so please call your healthcare plan and ask these questions:

Do I have out-of-network benefits?
What percentage of my therapist's fee does my plan pay for?

MOST OON BENEFITS PLANS PAY BETWEEN 50-90% OF MY FEE.

At times insurance plans request upfront billing codes SBCS will be using.  You can share this list of codes for their approval:

  • 90791  Psychiatric Diagnostic Assessment (from 1-4 sessions depending on the problem)

  • 90834 Psychotherapy, 45 minutes

  • 90847  Family Psychotherapy, conjoint psychotherapy with patient present

  • 90846 Family Psychotherapy, without patient present

  • 90887 Collateral visit

When using OON Benefits, SBCS will provide you with a document monthly called a "superbill" which is like an invoice but contains the service codes, dates of treatment, and monies paid during therapy. You would submit this to your plan directly and your plan would reimburse you directly as well.

You can get in-network therapy if this is out of your budget. Your plan can identify providers who are in-network should you need to use your benefits.

HOW ARE MY RECORDS STORED?

Space Between Counseling Services utilizes a HIPAA compliant, encrypted, electronic medical record called Simple Practice that holds all of my client's mental health records safely in it. You will get a link to a client portal where you fill in demographic information and can access documents like invoices and superbills on your own.

Simple Practice has a credit card processing system named Stripe embedded in it.  If choosing to work with SBCS you would upload your credit card number and SBCS would tap the card after each session or late cancelation for the fee. SBCS only have access to the last 4 digits of your card and it is completely secured.

DO YOU HAVE A CANCELATION POLICY?

At Space Between Counseling Services, we have a 24- business hour cancelation policy. You will be responsible for an entire session fee of ($200/$300-350) if the change is made in less than 24 business hours' notice. Exceptions may be made for emergencies such as sudden illness or accident, at my discretion. It should be noted that insurance does not reimburse for canceled sessions and HSA and FSA cards can't be used in these cases.
